Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson suffered a torn meniscus during the Vikings week two win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night football. AP was helped off the field and immediately, Vikings fans all over were shocked and distraught. It appears that Peterson actually is looking to once again try and defy logic and come back earlier than anticipated.
He was placed on injured reserve shortly after he was diagnosed and the first time he can return is week 11. That’s when AP wants to come back.

Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson has told people in and around the organization he believes he can be ready to play when he’s eligible to come off injured reserve in eight weeks, people with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports.
However, that timeline is considered optimistic, and there remains doubt about whether Peterson will return at all this season as he begins his recovery from Thursday’s right knee surgery, said the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to comment publicly.
It’ll be at least a month before doctors have a better idea of whether an expedited return is possible for Peterson, the seven-time Pro Bowl running back who opted for a repair of his lateral meniscus — a procedure that can take three to six months to return from — rather than a trim that could’ve had him back on the field in two or three weeks.
