Adrian Peterson’s recent season with the Minnesota Vikings did not exactly go well. It appeared that the former NFL MVP was headed towards a return to the elite group of NFL running backs. Unfortunately, his season was cut short to only three games, 37 rushes, and 72 rushing yards.
The former NFL MVP is potentially heading into a free agency journey for the first time in his career. He’s been with the Vikings for a decade, and his career is Hall of Fame worthy. But for Peterson, the issue lies in his durability, especially as of late. In 2014 he was given a suspension after being indicted on child abuse charges and missed all but one game that season. In 2016, his season essentially came to an end after suffering a torn meniscus in week 2. He tried to come back during Week 11, but it ultimately was an attempt that didn’t work out.
So as AP possibly heads into free agency, with the Vikings having the ultimate decision with their option on his contract, Peterson has laid out some potential options.
He was on the ESPN show ‘First Take’ and AP opened up about what his options might be this summer.
“I see myself in purple. A lot has to take place,” Peterson said. “I see myself finishing off in purple. It is a business at the end of the day, so with that, things could end up differently. … Hopefully we can work things out.”
“There’s a couple teams out there that I’ve thought about. … New York was one of them that popped up, Tampa Bay, lot of different teams. Houston would be a good spot,” Peterson said. “I’ll stop right there. … I’m just throwing random names out there.”
It seems like Adrian Peterson is ready for whatever might happen this offseason.
