It’s been a hell of a week for the NFL. First, the Ray Rice story and now Vikings runningback Adrian Peterson is charged with child abuse. According to Jay Glazer, Peterson has to turn himself into authorities over the weekend. It has been confirmed by TMZ that Child Protective Services are investigating the case involving an 11 year-old boy.

UPDATE: Police reports state that Peterson admitted that he had to “whoop” one of his children back in May while the boy visited him in Houston. The child happens to be 4 years old and upon returning to his mother in Minnesota, she took him to the doctor were the scars were revealed. Lacerations where found on his thighs, lower back, buttocks, and hands. These wounds happen to come from a switch Peterson used to discipline the child.
Vikings’ officials have released a statement on the matter at hand.
“The Vikings are in the process of gathering information regarding the legal situation involving Adrian Peterson,” team spokesman Jeff Anderson said in a statement. “At this time, we will defer further questions to Adrian’s attorney Rusty Hardin.”
