It started as a regular old game for Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Adrian Gonzalez against his former team, the San Diego Padres. Gonzalez cranked a homerun to deep right field over his former teammate Matt Kemp’s head.
So he’s started the season off with a homerun in 3 straight games as the legendary Vin Scully so eloquently pointed out.
There’s one issue for the Padres. He wasn’t done yet.
Much like the first, Gonzo cranked a homerun to right field over Kemp’s head. This one though, almost didn’t make it over the wall. It bounces on the top of the wall, right by Kemp’s outstreched arm and there it is. Gone for his second home run of the game.
I hate to be this guy but, Gonzo wasn’t even done there.
To echo the words of Scully, ‘can you believe it?’. No Vin, actually I can’t because he completely rocked this one to deep right again and it made all types of Dodgers news hitting 3 homeruns in one game.
– According to Elias Sports Bureau, Adrian Gonzalez set a major league record by cranking five home runs in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ first three games.
– Gonzalez is the first Dodger to hit three in a game since teammate Juan Uribe did so against Arizona on Sept. 9, 2013.
– He’s the third player in franchise history to homer in his first three games, joining Jimmy Wynn in 1974 and Carl Furillo in 1955.
– His stats through his first 3 games so far, .769 average, 5 Homeruns, 7 RBI’s, .760 OBP, 2.077 Slugging percentage and 2.846 OPS.
Amazing stuff by Gonzalez.
