Keep calm…the looks for Mary Katrantzou’s Adidas collection are here! In April Adidas announced that Mary would be designing a capsule collection of Adidas Originals apparel and footwear. If you’re familiar with Mary Katrantzou, you know you can expect innovative digital prints, bold colors and graphic motifs. Adidas has had its share of out-of-the-box collaborations but Mary Katrantzou took sportswear to another level.
Mary reworked Adidas’ iconic looks and used track shoes worn by medal winners in the 1970s and 1980s for inspiration. It looks like the sportswear trend isn’t going anywhere. The technicolored sneakers have enough personality to make heads turn when you walk into any room but the jackets and dresses really bring this collection to another level. Mary succeeded in adding herself as well as the Adidas customer and that is very clear in the clothing section of this collection. She included A-line dresses, puffer dresses, body hugging zip up dresses and pullovers in neoprene with Adidas’ signature logo, florals, stripes and…laces.
