For many the announcement that Miami Hurricanes would be parting ways with NIke came as surprise and utter disappointment. Not only did they leave the swoosh the would be partnering with the 3 stripes, adidas which many would look as to be Nike’s rival, so to speak.
It has now been made official as the two entities have announced their partnership which starts in September 2015 and will last 12 years. One way to celebrate adidas provided Miami with some custom cleats.

adidas and the University of Miami today announced a landmark 12-year partnership making adidas the official athletic footwear, apparel and accessory brand of the Hurricanes through June 2027.

Our new partnership will help expand the UM brand locally, nationally and globally and will help Miami to continue to be one of the nation’s premier athletic programs.”
The partnership, which makes the University of Miami one of adidas’ 13 licensed NCAA programs, begins on September 1, 2015 and includes investment, product and uniform development for all 18 intercollegiate Hurricane athletics programs.
adidas partners hailing from the University of Miami include NFL stars Jimmy Graham of the New Orleans Saints, Frank Gore of the San Francisco 49ers and U.S. Olympic hurdler T’erea Brown.
