YouTube’s fledgling streaming service, YouTube Red, has tapped the team behind critical darling Happy Endings for a new series. The untitled series will star Adam Pally and is going to written and produced by the minds behind Happy Endings. Pally starred on the show for its entire run from 2011-2013.
David Caspe, Jordan Cahan, and Daniel and Matthew Libman will write and produce the 10-episode order. Fellow Happy Endings producer Jamie Tarses is also set to executive produce the series. Maurice “Mo” Marable will direct the pilot.
The series will star Pally, Sam Richardson, and Jay Pharoah. The story will revolve around how every rapper has a crew they can’t live without and vice versa. It will also explore how long that crew can survive without being in the spotlight. Richardson has recently appeared in Veep and Detroiters. Pharoah last appeared in the Showtime series White Famous following his 6-year stint on Saturday Night Live.
Sony Pictures Television Studios is attached to produce. This is Sony’s second collaboration with YouTube Red after the Karate Kid revival series Cobra Kai.
The series is set to premiere in 2019 on YouTube Red
