Every woman’s closet has an entire outfit for a certain activity she does, whether she goes to work, to go shopping or just hang out with friends. Fitness activities are not an exception to this. But regardless of what activity you choose to do, wearing the best clothing is a top priority. For some, they are a representation of what they wear and for some, what they wear determines how they perform.

For example, if you are going for an interview, the outfit you would probably wear will be something comfortable and that it can boost your confidence in answering the interview questions. Similarly, if you are an active person and you do some workouts, you would prefer some activewear that would help you perform at your best. You would choose the type of fabric that can make you feel comfortable, cool and energized. Below are some reasons why wearing good workout clothes really matter.

Appropriate Athletic Clothing Improves Performance

Fabrics with excellent quality work well with the body to improve performance while overcoming the intensity of your training. When we speak about improved performance, comfort is another key factor. Get the right type of fabric for your chosen activity and pick fabrics that contain polypropylene because it has the ability to wick sweat away from your skin. Sweat-wicking fabrics have the ability to draw moisture away from your body, making you feel dry and comfortable.

The Right Type of Fabric Can Boost Confidence

Clothing can empower one’s self-esteem. Having the best type of activewear and equipment can add more to your confidence. Studies say that clothing plays a role in a person’s behavior and attitude, simply saying that what you wear can change how you act. When you have brand new activewear you begin to act like a pro and this makes you mentally-fit for your activities. This will make you confident in your own abilities and it makes you perform better.

Proper Choice of Activewear Prevents Injury and Provides Protection

Invest in clothes, shoes, gears, and equipment that will not give you the risk of getting hurt. Being injured because of bad activewear can affect how you do your routine. Remember to keep yourself comfortable so you won’t get an injury.

Warm fabrics are also important in places that are having cold weather. As well as fabrics that make your skin breathe in hot weather can also affect how you perform your activities. Always remember that whether it is cold or hot weather, your body will sweat as you work out, choose the appropriate clothing.

Well-fitted Work Out Clothing Gives Freedom of Movement

Well designed and lightweight activewear does not restrict your movements and makes you work out well. You can freely move and do better for each routine because you don’t feel the difficulty of moving. In choosing active clothing, consider the design and how it is tailored, it should make you move in all directions and comfortably as you workout at your best performance. Never wear clothes that are too loose and comfortable. Stretchy and fitted fabrics are best for yoga while loose pants can be good for running. As a general rule, choose clothes that will not get in your way while you do your activities.

Good Fabric Does Not Irritate Your Skin

Get activewear that will not give skin irritations, rashes, and itching as you workout. If you get low-quality fabrics, you are at-risk during your workout. Itchiness can disturb your activity and eventually affect how you perform during your activities. Choose light and breathable fabric to avoid skin itching brought about by clogged sweat glands during an intense workout. Detergents can also cause skin rashes and itchiness, use only mild laundry detergents when you wash your activewear.

When choosing your activewear, consider the following properties so you can be at your best

during your workouts:

Breathability

Choosing a breathable fabric will keep your cool during a workout. When you are a very active person and you sweat a lot, breathable fabrics will help cool down your body. Fabric breathability is affected by:

• Fabric construction and weight
• Moisture management
• Mesh and air vents
• Fit

Here are some breathable fabrics:
• Cotton
• Nylon
• Polyester
• Linen
• Rayon
• Silk
• Flexibility

For you to carry out your routine properly and accurately, your activewear should be tailored for movement with no restrictions. Be sure that you also get the appropriate size for you. Having too tight an outfit can restrict your movements, also larger sizes can disrupt you. Get the best fit that enables you to move in all directions.

Weight

Understanding fabric weight is a little bit confusing for some. One misunderstanding about fabric weight is that the heavier a fabric is, the thicker it is. This is not always the case. For example, some leggings are thick but are lightweight. Having the appropriate weight of fabric enables you to move and do your workout very well.

Comfort

This is the bottom line when you are trying to choose activewear. It should make you feel comfortable while you do your routine. If you have no restrictions and you can make all the movements that you want, then you might have chosen the best activewear that allows you to perform with self-confidence.

In general, the fabric type will depend on the clothing design or style. Good design and comfortable style can motivate you to go and do your daily exercises and fitness drills. Looking good through the mirrors inside the gym will give that confidence and make you move at your best.

Activewear has always been in fashion, especially for women. This indicates that activewear will continually become a trend, especially for active people. Brands will increasingly offer different styles with different fabrics to answer these growing needs and trends. This just proves that the clothes that a person wears can inspire and motivate an individual just like how activewear can motivate people. So the next time you shop at your favorite sports gear store, think about these factors mentioned. These will help you pick the right activewear fabric and style to boost that active performance.
