ABC has ordered the remaining nine episodes for “Cristela,” starring Mexican-American comedian Cristela Alonzo as a law school graduate who’s trying to become an attorney while balancing the demands of her family.
The 20th Century Fox TV show, which is exec produced by Alonzo along with Kevin Hench, is the second comedy to receive a full-season pickup this year, along with ABC’s “Black-ish.”
According to Nielson, it’s been a consistent ratings performer, hovering around a 1.3 rating/5 share in adults 18-49 demo and an average of 6 million viewers in its airings to date.
“Cristela” also stars Maria Canals-Barrera, Carlos Ponce, Terri Hoyos, Gabriel Iglesias, Sam McMurray, Justine Lupe, and Andrew Leeds.
