According to a report from Deadline, ABC is working on a plan to launch a new superhero series. Specifically, the network is in “active talks” to bring in a new series that focuses on a female superhero.
While the network is tight lipped about the specifics of the series, executives offered brief details about the possibility of a new series. ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke said, “I have spoken to Marvel and we are in active talks about one project in particular.” She also noted that the series would be “something brand new, mostly”.
Most recently, ABC wrapped up the seventh season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. In addition, the Disney owned network has worked on a Wonder Woman series written by Allan Heinberg.
The network is reportedly looking to keep a Marvel inspired show on their network at all times. In addition, they are also looking to add more women superheroes to their overall catalog.
More details will be reported as they become available. In the meantime, Disney and Marvel will continue to work on the number of projects they have scheduled for Disney’s official streaming service.
