The New York Yankees have reportedly suffered another injury issue with Aaron Judge hitting the shelf. Judge has a stress fracture one of his ribs and will most likely miss the start of the season. The organization plans to have Judge rest up over the next two weeks before the season starts with hopes that he can join the team early on. However, the question of surgery is still not off the table for Judge, which would be devastating for the early American League MVP candidate.

Judge played in 102 games in the 2019 season for the Yankees, where he hit .272/.381/.540 with 27 home runs and 67 RBI. In his four years in the big leagues, Judge has been a two-time all-star, a silver slugger award winner, winner of the 2017 AL Rookie of the Year Award, and has been an MVP candidate twice. He was an early favorite, next to Mike Trout for the MVP award in 2020, but this injury could change things if surgery is required.
The Yankees cannot seem to catch a break this offseason with injuries pouring in left and right for the organization. They are already without Giancarlo Stanton, who will be out past Opening Day with his injury. The pitching staff has been taking hits as well, James Paxton had surgery and is out until June. Luis Severino underwent Tommy John Surgery, which will keep him on the sidelines for the entire season. The simplest way too put it; they cannot catch a break.
