The Philadelphia 76ers have waived veteran forward Gerald Wallace, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein:
ESPN sources say that the Sixers, as of 5 p.m. today, have waived Gerald Wallace

Wallace did not play a single game for Philadelphia before this move. He was involved in two trades this summer – the first from the Boston Celtics to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for David Lee, and the second from the Warriors to the Sixers in exchange for Jason Thompson.
The one-time all star has struggled mightily in recent years as his age has caught up to him. Since joining the Brooklyn Nets in 2012 (in a trade that gave the Portland Trail Blazers the draft pick that eventually became Damian Lillard) his production has dropped heavily. In fact, playing nine minutes per game in only 32 games last season with the Celtics, Wallace averaged a single point. That is a strange sight to see from a player who once led the Charlotte Bobcats to the playoffs.
Wallace will almost certainly go unclaimed off of waivers, leaving him free to sing with any team of his choosing. There is a large chance that he does not have anything left in the tank to contribute to an NBA team. However, if he is healthy, he could provide a few decent minutes to a team in need of depth.
