76ers Send Alexey Shved To Rockets As Third Team In Corey Brewer Trade
The Philadelphia 76ers emerged as the third team in the trade that sent Corey Brewer from Minnesota to Houston. Philly opted to take Ronny Turiaf’s $1.5 million contract off of the Rockets’ hands as the third team in the trade. Turiaf is ruled out for the season by injury and the 76ers are likely to waive him.
From the 76ers release:
The Philadelphia 76ers announced that they have acquired Houston’s 2015 second round pick, forward Ronny Turiaf and the rights to Sergei Lishouk (sir-GAY Leesh-CHUK) in exchange for guard Alexey Shved.
A nine-year-veteran, Turiaf has posted career averages of five points, four rebounds and one block per game on 53% shooting from the field.
Lishouk was originally the 49th overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies.
The 76ers now have three 2015 second-round draft picks from the Magic, Pelicans, Warriors, and Celtics. They haven’t been shy about stocking their picks and continuing to build with young players through the draft. They also grant the 76ers value in the trade market. Teams are always looking for picks.
Houston gets to dump Turiaf’s salary and Shved is another guard who just might find his way into McHale’s rotation for depth on the perimeter.
