No one has worn number 2 for the Philadelphia 76ers since 1994. That was the last time Moses Malone wore the jersey as a member of the Sixers and now no one will ever wear it again.
It’s been announced that Moses Malone’s number 2 76ers jersey will finally be retired, something that is long overdue.

Malone’s jersey was taken out of circulation a long time ago but it was never officially retired by the organization. Unfortunately, Malone won’t be in attendance for his retirement ceremony due to his passing back in September.
Malone only played five seasons with the 76ers but he won his lone NBA title in his first season with Philly. He was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 2001 and he is considered one of the best big men in NBA history.
The reason why it took so long to retire his number is unclear especially considering that no one else has ever worn the number in the history of the 76ers. It’s Malone’s number, retire it properly and let it hang in the rafters with the other Philly greats.
