UPDATE: Tekashi 6ix9ine has been transferred to a new prison facility as reported by TMZ. He is now in a unit with neutral inmates for safety reasons. Tekashi’s lawyer Lance Lazzaro says his client was getting threats from gang members at MDC.
As previously reported, Daniel “6ix9ine” Hernandez was arrested along with a few close associates. According to multiple reports, Hernandez has been charged with eight crimes including racketeering and firearm charges. Three of the eight charges carry up to a life sentence if convicted.
Since being arrested earlier this week, Hernandez has been moved to general population in the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center. Despite popular belief, the rapper does not fear for his life at his current location. As of now, there has been no apparent threat to the rapper’s safety, but federal authorities could move him if a threat is perceived later on. According to his attorney, Lance Lazaro, the Brooklyn native’s biggest concern is his family’s safety. Lazaro told reporters, “Daniel’s mood is fine, because he knows he is innocent. He’s extremely concerned about his family.”
6ix9ine celebrated his daughter’s third birthday earlier this year after being let off on probation for a different case. Throughout his career, Hernandez has made reference to his mother and the mother of his child. Most recently, 6ix9ine noted that a booking agency allegedly issued his family’s address to foes of his. Luckily, his family has remained out of harms way for the time being.
On a professional level, 6ix9ine’s album, Dummy Boy, has been pushed back for the foreseeable future. There is no word as to whether or not his video with Nicki Minaj or Kanye West will also be delayed because of recent events. More details will develop as the case continues to unfold.
