San Fransisco 49ers summer has not been the greatest in recent memory. They parted ways with their coach, Jim Harbaugh and lost four players in the prime of their careers due to retirement. Justin Smith, Patrick Willis, Chris Borland and Anthony Davis all left the NFL during the offseason. Don’t forget, Michael Crabtree and Frank Gore also left San Fransisco in free agency.
Now as the team was looking to begin their rebuild, it appears that an old demon has reared its ugly head.
One of their talented linebackers, Aldon Smith, has been arrested for Hit and Run, DUI and Vandalism.
Following from the Santa Clara police department twitter account.
From the PIO: SCPD arrested Aldon Smith last night for Hit&Run, DUI, and vandalism. A press release will be provided later this morning.

There is was no further information released about the incident that led to the arrest at this time but a press release is expected later this morning.
Smith’s is no stranger with DUI as this is now the third time he’s been arrested on those charges. He was admitted to a rehab facility after his second arrest in September 2013, which led to him missing five games during the 2013 season. He missed nine more games while serving a suspension for those arrests and other off-field trouble last season.
Should these charges stand, Smith will be looking at another suspension from the NFL and there’s a good chance it could also be the end of his time with the Niners. If he’s guilty of these charges, the NFL suspension should be the least of his worries. It may be mandated as a way to protect the rest of the population, that he spends time in some sort of facility for a very long time.
