Three words defined the Washington Redskins season in 2015, You Like That! The skins surprised the football world and returned to the postseason on the heels of a solid Kirk Cousins. After an offseason filled with little excitement where will the Redskins look to draft holding the 21st selection.
The biggest area of need that stood out to me was along the defensive line. After losing Terrence Knighton to the Patriots this appears to be a landing spot for a first round defensive tackle. One name that stands out to me could be Alabama’s Jarran Reed. One word to describe Reed, “solid”. The former bama lineman does practically everything well especially stopping the run. His teammate A’Shawn Robinson could be another option if they prefer Robinson’s pass rushing ability.
Another spot is a pass rusher opposite of Ryan Kerrigan. Eastern Kentucky’s Noah Spence could be an option in round one. Another is Clemson’s Shaq Lawson. Lawson is more of a junkyard dog that does the heavy lifting in the run game as well. Could Lawson be a nice fit in Washington as the next potential Terrell Suggs?
Finally the other point of emphasis I want to stress is the offensive line. Last year they made a foolhardy move passing on Leonard Williams in favor of guard Brandon Scherff. I could see a similar position happening where Washington takes an offensive tackle much earlier than expected. Maybe shocks the world taking Jason Spriggs at 21 if the other top tackles are off the board. Offensively the Skins will probably look at some depth at the running back position as well.
