The Tennessee Titans originally held the first overall draft pick before trading it to the formerly known St. Louis Rams. Now known as the LA Rams have dealt 15th overall selection to Tennessee. With 10 of the first 76 picks being held by the Titans it’s time to guess what direction they may go on draft day.
In the first round there have been rumblings the Titans may attempt to move back into the top 10 having so many extra picks to deal at their disposal. Regardless of whether they move up this is a team with holes at virtually every position. One spot I would like to see the team attack is the cornerback position. Players such as William Jackson, MacKensie Alexander, and Eli Apple could all be available in the first round. If for some reason Vernon Hargreaves from Florida were to slip he should be the pick. Hargreaves, a three year starter from Florida, is a day one number one corner in the NFL for years to come.
Another spot the Titans could look is along the offensive line. The Titans were likely to take Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil had they stayed at number one. Since moving down at tackle a pair of Big 10 prospects could be the answer at right tackle. Taylor Decker from Ohio State and Jack Conklin from Michigan State are two tackles that expected to be picked in the middle of round 1. Another option could be center Ryan Kelly from Alabama. Kelly is a lock to be an all pro center but pick number 15 may be a bit to rich to pull the trigger on a center. Other options at center include Graham Glasgow from Michigan and Max Tuerk from USC.
Building offensive weapons around quarterback Marcus Mariota will be vital for his development. With three second round picks on board Tennessee will likely take a receiver and or tight end in round two. Notre Dame’s Will Fuller could be a terrific pick if he were to still be available. An even better fit may be Braxton Miller from Ohio State. The problem is he may take 2 or 3 years to fully develop.
