The San Diego Chargers have the interesting situation of having the best available selection who isn’t a quarterback with the 3rd overall pick. With signal callers going 1 and 2, who will the Bolts select in the 2016 NFL Draft?
At pick number 3 this selection really comes down to two players in my mind, Jalen Ramsey and Laremy Tunsil. Ramsey is the 2nd best player on my board and will make an immediate impact at either corner or safety. Tunsil on the other hand is a dominant left tackle who is superior in pass protection. If the Chargers are going to win any games an argument could be made that protecting Philip Rivers should be the number one priority. I expect Tunsil to be the selection when its all said and done.
Later in the draft some areas of need for the Chargers that remain priorities are safety, wide receiver, and defensive line. Considering the subtraction of Eric Weddle this offseason, the Chargers could desperately use a free safety to roam the defense. One option could be Karl Joseph in round 2. The former West Virginia safety would have been a first round pick had it not been for a torn ACL in college. At wide out the addition of Travis Benjamin gives the Chargers a speed element but they are still missing that big bodied receiver that made the Chargers so successful when Vincent Jackson was in his prime. One late round consideration could be Marquez North who was one of my top rated receivers before an injury plague season buried him on draft boards.
