The Kansas City Chiefs had a successfully season in 2015 finishing 11-5 on the year. After striking gold in the draft last season with Marcus Peters, the Chiefs will look to do the same in 2016. What direction could the Chiefs go in this year’s upcoming draft?
Holding the 28th pick Kansas City could go in a number of directions as it is very difficult to project who will be available. One target I would like to see is Notre Dame’s Will Fuller. The combination of Fuller and the incumbent Jeremy Maclin would create a lot of speed for opposing secondaries. Fuller figures to have an impact from day one and is my 2nd ranked wide receiver in this year’s draft.
Another potential first round option would be to select a cornerback. Sean Smith signed with the Raiders leaving a huge hole opposite of Marcus Peters. Ohio State’s Eli Apple and University of Houston’s William Jackson are two potential prospects.
Later in the draft I would like to see KC improve their offensive line. Donald Stephenson went to the rival Broncos and former first overall pick Eric Fisher has failed to live up to expectations. Virtually every spot along the offensive line could use depth. Taking a flier on a pass rusher would also be a good idea consider Justin Houston could be out for the entire season after tearing his ACL this offseason.
