The Colts are one of the more curious teams in the NFL. After tons of controversy surrounding the job security of head coach Chuck Pagano and Gm Ryan Grigson, the Colts decided to give the duo another shot. Despite having one of the worst rosters in the league lets see where the Colts can turn in the draft to improve this abysmal roster.
This roster needs help everywhere but if they plan on keeping Andrew Luck upright in 2016 the Colts need to improve the offensive line. At tackle Jack Conklin and Taylor Decker appear to be likely targets. Conklin from Michigan State and Decker from Ohio State are projected to land somewhere in the middle of round 1. Another option is Alabama’s Ryan Kelly. 18th may be a high price to pay for a center but Kelly appears to be a lock for an all pro at the next level.
Also on offense it would be in the best interest of the Colts to find another runningback to compliment Frank Gore. One player I really like is Kelvin Taylor from Florida. Taylor, the son of Jaguar great Fred Taylor, has been drastically undervalued during the draft process. Taylor reminds me of Giovanni Bernard when Gio came from North Carolina.
On defense Indianapolis figures to also look for some pass rushing help. Bjoern Werner was released and Trent Cole has disappointed since signing a year ago. One player who fits the 3-4 outside linebacking mold is Shaq Lawson. The former Clemson pass rusher has recorded double digit sacks two years straight for the Tigers. He is also a superior run stuffing specialist.
