After appearing at Goldenvoice’s Day N’ Vegas over the weekend, TMZ reports that 21 Savage must perform domestically because he cannot travel overseas. As it stands, the Atlanta native reportedly has not received a court date that would allow him to move forward with his immigration battle. Moreover, the Atlanta area courts are allegedly backlogged until 2022 with immigration cases. As a result, the Atlanta philanthropist could wait years until he hears back from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
ICE infamously took 21 Savage in to custody during Super Bowl week in Atlanta earlier this year. Public records showed that 21 Savage entered the country legally as child. Unfortunately, his visa expired and he has been unable to renew it or establish permanent citizenship despite his best efforts.
Making matters worse, 21 Savage was unable to get a work permit after being detained. After working to reinvigorate his career, he received a work permit last month. However, working or performing out of the country is not an option until his immigration status is solidified.
In the meantime, 21 Savage will continue to navigate the slow moving court systems within the United States. Check out our recap of his day two performance at Day N’ Vegas.
