A new group of iconic fighters will make their way to Canastota, New York next year. ESPN‘s Mike Coppinger has reported that Roy Jones Jr., Miguel Cotto, James Toney, Holly Holm and Regina Hamlisch lead the 2022 International Boxing Hall Of Fame class. Joining this group of legendary fighters, publicist Bill Caplan, journalist Ron Borges and historian Bob Yalen will also be inducted into the hall of fame.
The most recent class of fighters and contributors will be inducted during a ceremony on June 12, 2022 in upstate New York. They will be joined by fighters from the previous two classes who were unable to be formally enshrined due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. As a result, Andre Ward, Wladimir Klitschko, Anne Wolfe, Laila Ali, Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be in attendance.
“The Hall of Fame is excited about welcoming the newest members of the Hall of Fame and boxing fans from around the world for a celebration of the sweet science that only comes along once in a lifetime,” Hall of Fame Executive Director Edward Brophy said in a press statement.
“It will be fantastic to see everyone together again after pausing for two years due to the pandemic.”
