Security is reportedly heightened at this year’s Golden Globes awards in California. A source told the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told Deadline, “We are in a state of high alert.” Furthermore, the police presence is “both seen by the naked eye and behind the scenes.”
Another source reportedly said, “There hasn’t been any chatter or intel suggesting anything direct, but strong more general threats like we’ve heard the past few days demand heightened vigilance.”
However, Beverly Hills Police Department Officer Arbuckle downplayed the need for heightened security. The office noted, “We always treat this event with all the security we can provide.”
These concerns come just days after top Iranian General Qassem Soleimani was killed in Iraq by an airstrike ordered by Donald Trump. In response, top Iranian officials said that the United States could expect “harsh retaliation” for the attack.
