President Donald Trump wins the state of South Carolina. He will pick up nine points on his road to 270 electoral votes.
Trump’s victory in the Gamecock state is a repeat of his 2016 campaign. In 2016, he won nine electoral votes in the state while picking up 55% of the popular vote.
Moving forward, Trump will look to capture a number of key swing states in the south. While he is favored in Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi, states like Georgia, North Carolina and Florida. As those three states begin to close their polls, the White House will focus their attention to the southeast.
Trump will also begin to set his sights on key states in the West like Arizona and Texas. If he is able to pick up those swing states, he may very well stay in office for another four years.
