
President Donald Trump has emerged victorious in the state of Indiana. Winning the Hoosier state, Trump takes his first step toward possible re-election. In the coming moments, members of the Trump administration will look towards Kentucky and South Carolina for results as polls begin to close in different parts of the country.
In picking up the state of Indiana, Trump earns 11 electoral votes. He will need to pick up 270 votes to remain in office. The New York native is far from victory, but Indiana is a start on the path to victory.
Trump’s victory in Indiana is a repeat of his 2016 performance. He defeated former Sen. Hilary Clinton by a score of 11 electoral votes to zero. However, the popular was much closer. He walked away with 56% of the vote while Clinton went home with 44% of the vote.
Polls in Indiana began closing at 6 p.m. Moving forward, voters can look to states like Vermont, Florida and Virginia as polls begin to close in other areas.
