
On Sunday evening, Hip-Hop culture has a huge night at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. Although no Hip-Hop artist took home the big “Album of the Year” award, Cardi B won her first Grammy Award, Jay Rock took home an award and Childish Gambino made history in both the “Song of the Year” and “Record of the Year” categories. In addition, Cardi B, Young Thug and Travis Scott all touched the stage at the Microsoft Theater.
Going forward, many will be paying attention to see if the Black Panther soundtrack can take home any awards at the 91st Academy Awards. Meanwhile, Hip-Hop could also have a huge night at the 2019 NAACP Image Awards.
This week, the NAACP unveiled its nominees for the 2019 Image Awards. This year, the nominees list includes A-List talent such as Beyonce, Jay-Z, Donald Glover and Kendrick Lamar who are all nominated for multiple awards this year. In addition, Ella Mai, Tory Lanez, H.E.R, Bryson Tiller and SZA all picked up nominations as well.
