The 2015 season ended in disappointment for the Denver Broncos. The Broncos were ousted from the playoffs by the Indianapolis Colts. After replacing head coach John Fox with Gary Kubiak, the team is on a Superbowl or bust mission. Can the 39 year old Peyton Manning lead this team to the promise land one more time?
In order to do that Denver needs to score big with their draft picks. The 28th overall pick will likely go towards the offensive line. Losing Orlando Franklin to San Diego hurts so the need is there. Center Cameron Erving from Florida State is a player that comes to mind. Erving is my number one rated offensive lineman and can play all 5 positions along the offensive line. This versatility makes him that much more valuable. The only reason he may slide down this far is because centers are extremely devalued making this selection very possible.
Another direction the team could go is nose tackle. New defensive coordinator Wade Phillips will be implementing the 3-4 defense. After losing Terrence Knighton to free agency the team will look to find a new anchor for their defense. In my Mock Draft I selected Jordan Phillips for the Broncos. Phillips is a big nose tackle from Oklahoma. He has the talent just needs to be surrounded in a good locker room. That shouldn’t be a problem with this classy organization.
Make no mistake about it this is a team with very little holes. When under the radar need is finding Peyton Manning’s eventual replacement. If Denver feels Brock Osweiler is the guy this might be a moot point. On the other hand Osweiler is not Gary Kubiak’s guy. He may be looking for a more mobile quarterback who can run his zone reed bootlegs plays. Quarterbacks Shane Carden, and Garrett Grayson are two players that come to mind. Both could make great fits for Kubiak’s offense whenever Peyton decides to hang up the cleats.
