The Dallas Cowboys season ended in controversy after the Dez Bryant play on 4th down was ruled incomplete. Dallas shattered expectations after a 12-4 record when most predicted the Cowboys to be one of the worst NFL teams. The defensive unit vastly improved under Rod Marinelli. The biggest improvement started up front with the league’s best offensive line. Much of the success of Demarco Murray had to do with the mammoth’s up front. The loss of Demarco Murray will be a huge loss, but it could be overcame with the addition of a runningback in the draft. Who else will Dallas target come April 30th?
Dallas will select a runningback somewhere in the draft. Dallas may target Todd Gurley or Melvin Gordon in the first round. Jay Ajayi, Duke Johnson, Ameer Abdullah, Tevin Coleman, and T.J. Yeldon are some backs for Dallas to consider. The Cowboys need a back to compliment newly signed Darren McFadden. Javorius “Buck” Allen is a guy from USC who could be a great fit for the Cowboys. Allen is a rushing and receiving threat and could make a great one-two punch with Darren McFadden.
Defense is the other logical spot the Cowboys could look at early in the draft. Linebacker is a postion of need for Dallas. Bruce Carter left for Tampa Bay, Sean Lee is always hurt, and Rolando McClain appears to be heading elsewhere. In my Mock Draft I selected UCLA linebacker Eric Kendricks for the Cowboys. Kendricks is an instinctive linebacker much like his brother Mychael Kendricks. Kendricks could make the perfect fit as either a outside linebacker or middle linebacker in the Cowboys 4-3 defense. Other linebackers to consider are Stephone Anthony, Paul Dawson, and Denzel Perryman.
