Ghostbusters is headed back to US theaters this summer.
Sony has confirmed that it will celebrate the comedy’s 30th anniversary by unveiling a newly-remastered print in 700 theaters on August 29.
New Blu-ray editions of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II will be out on September 16, and will feature new interviews with director Ivan Reitman and writer/actor Dan Aykroyd.
Sony’s president of worldwide distribution Rory Bruer, said this about the re-release:
“Ghostbusters is still one of our studio’s most beloved franchises.
I was lucky enough to work on the release of the film on its first run, so it’s a real thrill for me to see that it’s still connecting with audiences everywhere.
On the big screen or in home entertainment, this is a great movie to experience again and again.”
A new website is in works in celebration of the 30th anniversary.
A third Ghostbusters movie is currently in the works.
