13 Reasons Why has been somewhat of a lightning rod for controversy since it first aired in 2017. It’s been mostly well-received but hasn’t always been praised for its tact in handling sensitive issues. Recently, Netflix finally edited out the show’s graphic depiction of suicide from the first season.
Regardless though, the series has garnered a passionate fanbase and on Thursday Netflix dropped a couple of bombshells on that fanbase with a new trailer, a season 3 release date, and, as reported by Variety, a final season renewal.
First up, the fourth season of 13 Reasons Why will be the last. It’s currently in production and will apparently follow the main characters up through their high school graduation. The third season, however, is set to drop in a few short weeks on August 23rd. And, even as someone who hasn’t watched more than a few episodes of the series, this trailer has me intrigued.

Season 3 will follow the show’s main characters as they do their best cover-up Tyler’s actions and move forward with their lives. However, as the trailer reveals, the death of series bully Bryce Walker threatens to reveal the deepest secrets of everyone at Liberty High.
