10 NBA Games On A Wednesday Night Was Highlighted By A Big Name Return

The NBA was filled with action on Wednesday January 15th

San Antonio Spurs at Charlotte Hornets. Spurs Beat Hornets 98-93.

Coming off a loss to the Washington Wizards, the San Antonio Spurs traveled to Charlotte to take on the Hornets and their returning star, Lance Stephenson.

Manu Ginobili came off the bench for one of his classic bench performance to lead the Spurs to victory with 27 points. Danny Green dropped 13 and Tony Parker scored 10 on the night for the Spurs.

The Hornets were led by their star Kemba Walker who dropped 28 points in a loss. Bismack Biyombo scored 12 while grabbing 15 rebounds, Gerald Henderson scored 11 and P.J. Hairston came off the bench to score 11 as well while giving us all the flop of the year. Lance Stephenson scored 8 points in his return to the team.

San Antonio Spurs are 24-16. Charlotte Hornets are 15-25.

Houston Rockets at Orlando Magic. Magic upset Rockets 120-113.

The Orlando Magic spoiled the return of Houston Rockets star Dwight Howard to the town that drafted him behind a big 30 point game from Victor Oladipo. Oladipo dropped 32 points on the night while his perennial all-star teammate, Nikola Vucevic, scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Channing Frye and Elfrid Payton scored 15 points each for the Magic. It was a huge Victor Oladipo dunk that sealed the deal for the Magic though and boy, it was a big dunk. Also for the first time in his career, Oladipo scored 30 points in back-to-back nights.

James Harden led the way for the Rockets scoring 26 points while handing out 10 assists, Dwight Howard scored 23 points on the night with 8 rebounds and Patrick Beverley scored 17 points with Trevor Ariza dropping 15.

Houston Rockets are 27-12. Orlando Magic are 15-27.

Memphis Grizzlies at Brooklyn Nets. Grizzlies defeat Nets 103-92.

Brooklyn Nets head coach Lionel Hollins welcomed the team he used to coach and most of his old players in the form of the Memphis Grizzlies, but it was the Grizzlies that showed Hollins what he’s missing in Memphis.

Zach Randolph dropped 20 points on the night and grabbed 14 rebounds, Courtney Lee and Marc Gasol scoured 18 points each with Gasol grabbing 8 rebounds for the Grizz. Tony Allen scored 13 points and Jeff Green made his Grizzlies debut and scored 10 points.

Nets were led by Mason Plumlee who scored 15 points on the night while grabbing 9 rebounds. Bojan Bogdanovic, Brook Lopez and Darius Morris scored 11 points each and Mirza Teletovic joined Darius Morris off the bench for 12 points of his own.

Memphis Grizzlies are 27-11. Brooklyn Nets are 16-23.

New Orleans Pelicans at Detroit Pistons. Pelicans beat Pistons 105-94.

Pelicans were powered by another big Anthony Davis performance with his 27 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks on the night. Tyreke Evans scored 18 points with 9 assists and Ryan Anderson came off the bench to score 17 points.

Pistons had Brandon Jennings lead the way for them with 19 points on the night and Greg Monroe dropped 16 for Detroit. D.J. Augustin scored 13 and Jodie Meeks dropped 11 as both players came off the bench for Detroit.

New Orleans Pelicans are 19-19. Detroit Pistons are 14-25.

Philadelphia 76ers at Toronto Raptors. Raptors defeat 76ers 100-84.

DeMar Derozan returned to the Toronto Raptors and he didn’t miss a beat. He dropped 20 points on the night to lead the Raptors to a victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. Kyle Lowry scored 18 points with 12 assists on the night and Louis Williams came off the bench to drop 19 points. The 76ers were led by Michael Carter-Williams who scored 29 points while grabbing 7 rebounds for the Sixers. Nerlens Noel dropped 12 points and pulled down 8 rebounds and K.J. McDaniels scored 10 points with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks with one rejection being very emphatic on the night.

Philadelphia 76ers are 7-31. Toronto Raptors are 26-12.

Washington Wizards at Chicago Bulls. Wizards defeat Bulls 105-99.

One of the premiere point guard matchups of the night brought us John Wall versus Derrick Rose. Once again, John Wall and his Wizards pulled off a great win against the Bulls for the second time in 5 days. Wall scored 21 points on the night while handing out 9 assists, Paul Pierce led the Wizards with 22 points, Bradley Beal dropped 17 points and Nene scored 13 points for the Wizards.

Derrick Rose led the Bulls with 32 points and 5 assists, Pau Gasol and Jimmy Butler struggled on the night scoring only 13 points each shooting 7-21 combined. Nikola Mirotic and Taj Gibson came off the bench to score 12 but the real concern was Joakim Noah who left the game at halftime and wouldn’t return due to an ankle injury. Noah also was seen leaving the arena in walking boot.

Washington Wizards are 27-12. Chicago Bulls are 26-14.

Atlanta Hawks at Boston Celtics. Hawks beat Celtics 105-91.

The Hawks rested more big names from their starting lineup once again. Tonight it was Kyle Korver and Al Horford but that didn’t stop them from rolling into Boston and securing a win to solidify their position atop the Eastern Conference. Jeff Teague and DeMarre Carroll led the way for the Hawks dropping 22 points each while Paul Millsap scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Celtics were led by Avery Bradley who scored 17 points and Jared Sullinger who dropped 14 points with 9 rebounds on the night.

Atlanta Hawks are 31-8. Boston Celtics are 13-24.

Dallas Mavericks at Denver Nuggets. Nuggets defeat Mavs 114-107.

After a trade sent one of their prime reserves to the east coast, the Denver Nuggets hosted a big time team in the West in the Dallas Mavericks who benched Dirk Nowitzki, Rajon Rondo and Tyson Chandler.

29 points from Ty Lawson with 12 assists led the way for the Nuggets with Kenneth Faried dropping 22 points and grabbing 14 rebounds of his own. Wilson Chandler scored 15 points while grabbing 10 rebounds of his own and Arron Afflalo scored 12 points for the Nuggets and J.J. Hickson came off the bench to score 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.

8 members of the Mavericks scored in double figures on the night. J.J. Barea led the team in scoring with 17 off the bench and he was one of 5 Mavericks who were in double figures off the bench including Devin Harris who scored 13, Dwight Powell and Charlie Villanueva who scored 11 points each and Al-Farouq Aminu who dropped 10 points. Richard Jefferson led all starters in scoring with 16, Chandler Parsons had 13 and Raymond Felton dropped 10 points.

Dallas Mavericks are 27-13. Denver Nuggets are 18-20.

Miami Heat at Golden State Warriors. Warriors beat Heat 104-89

Golden State Warriors dominated the night against the Miami Heat led by their star splash brother, Stephen Curry.

Curry dropped 32 points on the night with his back court partner in crime, Klay Thompson, dropping 19 points. That’s all the Warriors really needed on the night as there were 8 Warriors who scored at least 6 points on the night to defeat the Heat.

Amid trade rumors right before the game started, the Miami Heat came into the game without their star Dwyane Wade who missed this game due to an injury suffered in their victory over the Lakers. Chris Bosh scored 26 points on the night with 7 rebounds, Luol Deng dropped 19 points, and the 2 new Heat starters, Shabazz Napier and Hassan Whiteside, scored 10 points each with Whiteside grabbing 10 rebounds for Miami.

Miami Heat are 17-22. Golden State Warriors are 31-5.

Los Angeles Clippers at Portland Trail Blazers. Clippers beat Blazers 100-94.

The final premiere point guard matchup of the night featured Chris Paul and his Los Angeles Clippers coming into the great northwest to take on the Portland Trail Blazers and Damian Lillard. Lillard struggled and Paul’s Clippers pulled off a nice win in Portland.

Jamal Crawford led the Clippers in scoring dropping 25 off the bench despite rumors of bench struggles. He outscored the Blazers bench 25-15 on his own. Chris Paul dropped 23 points with 10 assists and 6 rebounds on the night, Blake Griffin scored 18 points, DeAndre Jordan dropped 17 points and grabbed 18 rebounds and Matt Barnes scored 10 points for the Clippers.

LaMarcus led the NBA in scoring on the night with 37 points while also grabbing 12 rebounds. Chris Kaman scored 15 points while pulling down 11 rebounds on the night with Damian Lillard scoring 15 as well but he struggled on the night only shooting 5-16 from the field.

Los Angeles Clippers are 26-13. Portland Trail Blazers are 30-9.
