Chanel had just released the campaign for its Fall/Winter 2016 eyewear collection. The video features the newly minted brand ambassador, Willow Smith. It was announced back in March at the Chanel show during Paris Fashion Week that Willow would join the ranks of Kristin Stewart and Keira Knightly as the face of the French fashion house. Willow tagged the announcement on Instagram with #BLACKGIRLMAGIC and the campaign for the collection surely doesn’t fall short of that.
There are two videos, each only a few seconds long, but that’s really all you need. Willow Smith is dressed in Chanel’s ready-to-wear and covered in plenty of accessories, dancing and bopping her head full of dreads. The brand is really embracing her individuality and edginess while still maintaining that classic Chanel elegance by drenching the video in black and white. The campaign was shot by Karl Lagerfeld, himself. As mentioned upon the announcement of Willow’s enlistment as brand ambassador, this is a major move for Chanel.

Willow is making waves as the brand’s youngest and first black representative and she’s not taking this role lightly. “Being a young African-American woman with dreads, it blows my mind that I’m a Chanel ambassador. Like, how am I a Chanel ambassador?”
I’m rather certain that Willow will be slaying the campaigns to come. Check out the videos above to witness her modeling Chanel’s Fall/Winter eyewear.
