On Tuesday night, the big running story in the NBA was centered around Oklahoma City Thunder star, Kevin Durant, and his return to Washington D.C. to play his hometown Washington Wizards. Well, Durant left at halftime and wouldn’t return and his teammate Russell Westbrook stole the show in only three quarters of play.
Durant left the game with a hamstring injury at halftime after playing 17 minutes, putting up 14 points, grabbing 10 rebounds but Westbrook was already well on his way to triple-double at the half so missing KD wasn’t that big of a deal. And going forward, Thunder head coach said KD’s injury isn’t too serious.
Westbrook only played 28 minutes but he did score 22 points on 7-17 shooting including going 3-4 from three point range and 5-6 from the free throw line as he also grabbed 11 rebounds and handed out 11 assists.
This was Westbrook’s first triple-double of the season. Let’s see if he can get anywhere near his NBA leading 11 triple-doubles from last season.
