Last night’s contest between the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks was billed as the final matchup between two legends, Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki. Well, right before the game started, Kobe ended up not suiting up for the Lakers and Dirk was the lone legend left in the matchup.
Late in the game, it was time for Dirk to pull out whatever he had left in the tank to come up big with the game on the line. With under 10 seconds to go, Dirk was in the corner right in front of the Lakers bench and he had the tough, strong Julius Randle defending him. He made a move and hit a classic Dirk turn around jumper right as Randle was defending him.
As Dirk fell back into the Lakers bench, it just so happened that he came in contact with Kobe Bryant and the legends showed some love on the court with Kobe giving him a pat on the back and Dirk giving Kobe a love tap to the chest and Bryant tells Julius Randle, “tough shot”.
Recognize greatness.
