Yes, you absolutely read that right. Quite possibly the best big man in the NBA was recently not only named to the 2016 NBA All-Star Game but he also was invited to participate in the 2016 Skills Challenge as big men are competing in the contest for the first time in its history. His week has not been too great.
DeMarcus Cousins and the Kings came into Brooklyn on Friday night, one week before All-Star festivities, and looked to feast on one of the worst teams in the NBA. Little did Boogie Cousins and the Kings know, the Brooklyn Nets had other plans.
Cousins put up a 24 point, 10 rebound, 10 assist triple-double against the Nets but the Kings played horribly, allowing the Nets to score 128 points in the loss. The point total was Brooklyn’s highest scoring output on the season and its tied for the most points Sacramento has allowed this season in regulation. The only other team to score at least 128 points on the Kings this season in regulation was a recent loss to the NBA’s best team, the Golden State Warriors.
The Kings have issues and it possibly could mean that their coach, George Karl, has been placed back on the hot seat after it seemed like things had cooled down. Losing six out of their last seven games after going on a five game winning streak doesn’t look good for Karl and it appears DeMarcus Cousins knows there’s some issues that need to be fixed.
