The Cleveland Cavaliers aren’t known for their three point shooting, but when they are on, they are ON. In game 2 of the Cavs second round series against the Atlanta Hawks, the team was on fire. Everyone was hitting three after three, and in the end, the set multiple records regarding most threes by a team in a game. They set the record for most threes in the first half of a game with 18. They also set the record for most threes in a game and in a playoff game with 25. Previously, the NBA record for most threes in a playoff game was 21 which was set by the Golden State Warriors, and the single game record for the NBA regular or postseason was 23. The Cavs easily broke both of these records, and they had the best three point shooting game in NBA history.
J.R. Smith led the way tonight for Cleveland, hitting 7 threes. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving both hit 4 threes, Kevin Love hit 3, and Richard Jefferson hit 2. Channing Frye, Matthew Dellavedova, Mo Williams, Iman Shumpert, and Dahntay Jones all hit one. Surprisingly, James Jones, who may be the best three-point shooter on the team, did not make any on the night.
