Yes, you’ve read correctly, there will be no new console installment for Assassin’s Creed. To start off 2016, a strong rumor came out saying that there would be no new Assassin’s Creed and now Ubisoft officially confirms what was once a rumor. Ubisoft took to their blog to inform fans of the series on the matter.
“This year, we also are stepping back and re-examining the Assassin’s Creed franchise. As a result, we’ve decided that there will not be a new Assassin’s Creed game in 2016. Since the release of Assassin’s Creed Unity, we’ve learned a lot based on your feedback. We’ve also updated our development processes and recommitted to making Assassin’s Creed a premier open-world franchise. We’re taking this year to evolve the game mechanics and to make sure we’re delivering on the promise of Assassin’s Creed offering unique and memorable gameplay experiences that make history everyone’s playground.”
Ubi not only chose to inform fans on the step back to re-imagine the series, but they inform fans that more information on this move will be coming very soon. In light of this rebuilding process for the series, CEO Yves Guillemot feels that this time off will do the film justice.
“The movie guys are extremely happy we don’t have a new game because they will have the full-year marketing space and they feel they will be able to do a better job at promoting the movie,” Guillemot said. The promoting for the movie has yet to start, but it will very very soon as the movie is slated for a December 21, 2016 release. If you’re well in-tuned with the world of Assassin’s Creed, you know that this is the day that the world starts to end.
Stay tuned for more updates on the series and be on the lookout for the first movie trailer soon.
