There have been many comments from players, coaches and owners as to what the NBA should do to shorten the amount of back-to-backs. The first experiment tried out was to have 44 minute games instead of the usual 48. There have been mixed reviews and Phoenix Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek has voiced his opinion. According to Valley of the Suns, he isn’t a proponent of the experiment.
“I think it was brought up that it could save the legs of the stars,” Hornacek said Thursday. “Then somebody else made the point, well, the shorter game is going to make the beginning more important. If all of a sudden the rest of the game is going to be more important, you’re probably going to lean to playing those stars more now, because you don’t have the time to make it up.”
This can all be sorted. No matter the ulterior motive. Lengthen the season by a month. Keep the 82 games, keep the 48 minutes. The extra month will extend the game space. Poke holes in my logic. I dare you.
