In case you somehow missed it, 10-time NBA All-Star Ray Allen made his retirement official today. Stephen Curry posted the above image and caption as a tribute to Allen’s career. The “Shuttlesworth” hashtag is a reference to the Spike Lee film “He Got Game,” in which Allen portrays high school basketball phenom Jesus Shuttlesworth.
Allen, who has made more three-point field goals than any other player in NBA history, certainly has a very real argument as greatest shooter of all time. Many would argue that Curry — who seems to shatter a new three-point record every day — already holds that crown, though. Whatever your opinion on the matter, there can be no denying that Allen had a hell of a career. He played for the Milwaukee Bucks and Seattle SuperSonics in the twilight of his career, and also played a huge role for the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat.
At the end of his career, the future Hall-of-Famer retires with two championships, two All-NBA appearances, and of course the most three-pointers ever.
