Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is planning on wearing mid-low shoes for the first time since having his own signature line with Under Armour, according to ESPN.
Stephen Curry is trying out the new shoes despite dealing with an ankle injury that kept him sidelined a few weeks. Curry said he will wear the shoes with ankle braces on Friday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks. The low top shoes are supposed to support the braces while making sure the shoe itself doesn’t look bulky.
“These shoes are an evolution in my signature series and engineered to work in tandem with my braces better than any shoe previously,” Curry told ESPN.
“I wanted to switch it up a little bit with a light shoe that could help speed the game up for me,” he said. “It is kind of ironic that I made the switch this season considering my ankle issues, but this shoe is stable and engineered to maximize my performance. I will still wear my ankle braces, but I have total comfort and security in my new shoe.”
Stephen Curry had contemplated wearing his low top version of the Curry 2’s, however, he was advised by the Warriors general manager Bob Myers and his agent Jeff Austin to not wear the shoes. All the parties this time around approve of Curry’s decision this time around.
