Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is set to be a free agent next summer. Currently on the best value contract in the league, Curry will finally have the opportunity to make some money off of his spectacular recent seasons.
There has been some speculation about Curry potentially leaving the Warriors next year. Most of that has been centered around his home-town Charlotte Hornets.
But Steph put all that speculation to bed during media day (via Anthony Slater of the San Jose Mercury News):
“I’m not going to let it distract me at all. I want to be back here. I like playing here. That’s it. The rest of it is about what we’re gonna do this year.”
Well there you have it. This clearly means that Stephen Curry will not be leaving Golden State ever. Oh wait, Kevin Durant had similar comments all of last year? Awkward.
In all seriousness, it would be incredibly shocking if Curry left the Warriors when they are on the brink of having a dynasty. With Durant, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson by his side, it’s hard to envision him finding a better situation anywhere else.
