Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy has announced that he has closed a $400 million dollar deal. Talk about the ultimate pay day.
Soulja Boy broke the big news on his Twitter page this past Saturday, tweeting, “$400 million deal confirmed. I still they think they low balled me though. I was thinking 2 or 3 billion..”
The rapper also revealed the big news on Instagram with a picture of himself with a handful of cash. The picture is captioned, “From being worth 25 million at 25 to being offered 400million and closing out the deal? Just think about where I came from no man seriously!”
Soulja doesn’t specify what the deal entails or what it’s about but has been expressing his excitement on the whole ordeal on his Twitter page.
Soulja became a commercial success after releasing “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” at the in 2007. Three years after the single, he landed on the 2010 Forbes’ list of Hip Hop Cash Kings for generating over $7 million dollars for that year from booming ringtone sales from the popular song.
While Soulja Boy hasn’t had much mainstream success since his 2010 album, “The DeAndre Way”, he has been keeping his name relevant on the mixtape scene having dropped EPs, mixtapes, and freestyles. Soulja also appeared on the popular VH1 series Love & Hip Hop.
Beyonce’s use of the rapper’s lyrics from his 2008 song “Turn My Swag On,” on her single, “Hold Up” from her new album, Lemonade, has also put the rapper back in the limelight.
Soulja Boy’s forthcoming album “Blessed” is scheduled for release sometime this year. This will be his fourth studio album and the follow-up to his 2010 EP, “The DeAndre Way.”
