The Note 8.0–Samsung’s rumored product–is said to be revealed at Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona. Much isn’t known about this device but an 8-inch Galaxy Note device has been rumored to be in the works ever since Apple took over the mid-sized tablet segment with the iPad mini.
The Note 8.0 would, like all Note models, feature the signature S Pen stylus which is pressure sensitive and slips into a special pocket built into the device for safe-keeping. The Samsung news blog SamMobile predicts that the Note 8.0 will have an 8-inch 1280×800 TFT display, 1.6GHZ quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) as its OS. On the back there is a 5-megapixel camera and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera.
So far there are two rumored versions–the GTN5110 which is Wi-Fi only and the GT-N5100 which will include 3G.
Though the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is only a rumor at the moment, it seems likely that Samsung would add a mid-sized tablet to compete with Apple, especially since the ‘Note’ series includes a stylus, making it stand out from other available tablets on the market.
Pictured above is the closest product Samsung offers right now to rival the iPad mini–the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 which has a 7-inch screen.
