Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley recently was faced with a decision. It wasn’t clear whether or not he would be getting knee surgery to heal a lingering issue. Now it appears he might be getting surgery and missing a good chunk of the season.
Beverley is a tough player and he always wants you to know it. But unfortunately no matter how tough you are, sometimes things that are out of your control will catch up to you. In this case, it’s a knee injury that will sideline Beverley for 20 games to start the season.
Following from Calvin Watkins of ESPN.
Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni said he expects guard Pat Beverley to miss at least 20 games with a left knee injury. His absence “complicates” some roster spots.
And Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical on Yahoo! Sports reports that Beverley is getting a knee scope next week and will miss at least three weeks.
Sources: Houston guard Patrick Beverley will undergo a minor surgical scope on his left knee early next week. He's expected to miss 3 weeks.

If the 20 game timetable is accurate, he will return at the beginning of December to the Rockets. For Houston, a team that has very few good defenders, to begin with, this definitely will make an impact on their team.
James Harden will be the ‘points guard’ this season for the Rockets but Beverley is seemingly the perfect compliment for Harden. A spot-up shooter who has no problem defending either guard spot. Now, it’s unclear what the Rockets will do. Does Eric Gordon get the start alongside Harden or do the Rockets go with the veteran Pablo Prigioni? They also acquired young guard Tyler Ennis and he could play some minutes at guard. Only time will tell what Houston does.
