RECAP: Timberwolves Skid Past Nets 98-91
The Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Brooklyn Nets 98-91 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Wednesday night. Kevin Martin led Minnesota with 26 points. Ricky Rubio had 14 points, 12 assists, and 7 rebounds for the Timberwolves. Joe Johnson led the Nets with 22 points and Deron Williams added 19.
Brooklyn fell to a 17-2 deficit to start this game before responding with a 34-14 advantage. Both teams took dips of production at times offensively, but the Nets’ turnover woes crept up as they committed 18 for the game. Brooklyn committed 21 turnovers in their season opener and just 16 combined in their last two games, but tonight they had more turnovers than assists (17). Minnesota only shot 41 percent from the field but capitalized on Brooklyn’s mistakes.
The Timberwolves got 17 points from rookie Andrew Wiggins, 16 points from Nikola Pekovic, and 10 points from Thaddeus Young.
Brooklyn and Minnesota are now both 2-2.
