Now this is good news. Thanks to an email acquired by WIRED from Sony, we now have confirmation of backwards compatibility making its way to the Ps4. Sony is currently working on an emulator that will make old Ps2 games playable and bring the resolution of them to HD.
“We are working on utilizing PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation,” an unnamed Sony representative told WIRED. “We have nothing further to comment at this point in time.”
Eurogamer has reported that the recently released Star Wars classics: Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, and Star Wars: Bounty Hunter are all currently being tested out on this emulator. Digital Foundry, the company who looked over the codes for these three games, found out that these aren’t just the simple port, but are actually running some form of code for the emulation.
Stick around for more information as Sony will definitely be speaking more on the Emulator soon. Maybe they’ll officially let the cat out of the bag at Sony Experience.
