The first official teaser trailer for the new live-action Power Rangers movie has arrived. Lionsgate released the trailer today, and the famed high school teenagers out of Angel Grove are shown coming together and discovering the means for their special abilities.
You get a sense of the modern flare of these Rangers, especially the fact that they are granted superhuman abilities (which apparently includes super strength, jumping really, really far). The only shot we see of their costumes is at the end, when it looks like the suit becomes engrained in them.
Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens (Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin) who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove — and the world — is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.
Check out the teaser trailer below.
Also starring in the movie is Bryan Cranston, Bill Hader, and Elizabeth Banks. Power Rangers is set to hit theaters on March 24, 2017.
