Preseason moves on and we now look at the Thunder once again, this time facing Philadelphia in Manchester, England. And I’ll tell you this… Kevin Durant and Tony Wroten are taking full advantage of preseason. I’ll tell you why.
When we hear KD we think “knockdown shooter”, that’s what I think anyway among other things. But it turns out this kid can rack up assists… 12 in fact! That’s right, 21 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists! Crazy! I bet you he set himself that goal before the game. Cause you don’t go into a game and it just “happened” he set out to get assists and I think that’s a good thing. To dominate this league you need the ability to do it all and it turns out the Durantula can pass as well. Whether he can do that every other game that remains to be seen.
Shout out to Reggie Jackson with 29 points. Great individual performance by him.
Now… Spencer Hawes had a good game with 11 points and 9 rebounds, Evan Turner got the job done with 19 points but there’s something about Tony Wroten I’m liking… I’m not sure what but he seems to be doing the right things and honestly make a case to be their sixth man…
What I love about preseason is that we get to see what players we rarely glance at and see what we’re missing, it gives them a chance to say “look at me, this is what your missing out on and with a team like Philly where every positions (other than Turner’s and Hawes’) is up for grabs, and I think Wroten is making a case for himself… We’ll see.
But overall it was a great game. Individual shine from KD, Ibaka and Jackson beat the good team play that Philly tried to implement.
Next up for these teams, the Sixers play Boston and the Thunder play Denver in a weeks time.
Day 4 roundup to come tomorrow including a first look at the new Brooklyn Nets.
