Okay, I knew and we all knew Nike was preparing to get crazy with their releases to commemorate the 2016 Olympics in Rio but I can say I never seen this one coming. Nor did I even think that this silhouette/colorway would return but when you think of the year it all makes sense. It will be 20 years since this colorway has released back when the 1996 Olympics took place in Atlanta. The Nike Zoom Flight 96 ‘Olympic’ was worn by Penny Hardaway and as you can see on the back of the sneakers his Olympic number is included. The pictures shared are in fact not the 2016 version but with a release date provided by the always reliable @Baltsneakershow, we can look for these to drop this July 9, 2016. As of right now there aren’t any 2016 pictures nor is there a confirmed retail price but as the warmer months approach we will surely be keeping you guys updated on any information regarding this release.
Let us know down in the comments your thoughts. Are you excited for the return of the ‘Olympic’ Nike Zoom Flight 96? How do they compare to the Nike Air More Uptempo ‘Olympic’ or even the ‘Tinker Alternate‘ Air Jordan 7 Olympic?
UPDATE: Here are official pictures provided by Nike and a confirmed release date of July 20th for the 2016 Nike Zoom Flight ’96 ‘Olympic’.
UPDATE: Courtesy of miszapas we have pictures of the 2016 version of Penny Hardaway’s Nike Zoom Flight 96 ‘Olympic’ which returns this July 9th. The official colorway description is White/Metallic Gold-White-Midnight Navy and the retail price is $130.
